Windy XD

Windy XD is an airports and aviation weather app for Windows Phone 8. It has index of over 45 000 airports all around the world, global METAR and TAF coverage and it gives you an easy access to these important information every pilot needs.

Let's face it. Your phone probably follows you everywhere. Why not make that work for you. Install Windy XD and you'll have always a reliable flying companion in your pocket. Even if you prefer other tools over a smartphone, Windy XD can become a valuable backup for you. Use it when you don't have a computer around, your tablet battery dies out or you have your documents lost. When other sources of information fail, Windy XD saves your day.

Three is more than one!

Windy XD comes with three main ingredients:
  • Airport information
  • Weather observations and forecasts
  • Crosswind calculator
 
Pilot apps for smart phones are usually limited to only one function. Be it weather, airports data or something else, they do only one thing. While that may generate more downloads and revenue for the publishers, this model doesn't fit the real life usage situations very well. 
 
Enter Windy XD. It was designed from the users point of view from the very beginning. It is an answer to a question stated above: "What does a pilot need to check before getting into a plane, or at least before taxiing for takeoff?" The obvious answers are:
 
  • The current weather at the departure airfield and weather forecast for the destination airfield at the estimated time of arrival
  • Communications and ATIS frequencies
  • Navaid frequencies and names
  • NOTAMS
 
Windy XD was designed to give this information as easily and as fluently as possible. This is what Windy XD is all about. It does three very basic things most every GA-pilot need. And now it only takes one app to do all those things.
